Pharmacometrics
Optimized Drug Therapy Instead of Standard Dosing. Today, we focus on individually tailored treatments rather than standard dosing, as factors such as age, kidney function, and other patient`s characteristics influence how the body processes and responds to a drug. In pharmacometrics, models such as population pharmacokinetic models are used to account for these differences and ensure precise and individualized dosing.
In combination with measuring drug concentrations in patients’ blood (Therapeutic Drug Monitoring), therapy can be further optimized and personalized. This approach is known as model-informed precision dosing (MIPD).
Our goal is to carefully evaluate published models and develop new, even more precise models that will be available in the future as software tools for practical use. This will ensure that treatments in clinical settings are tailored safely and effectively to each individual patient. These software tools will even allow users without in-depth pharmacometric expertise to successfully apply the models.
