Anne Ripperger, Dr. Heike Braun, and Dr. Toni Schumacher have been honoured with the Dr. Adalbert Buding Award 2016. The award, given annually by the German Hypertension Society (Deutsche Hochdruckliga e.V. DHL), honours exceptional scientific achievements in the field of hypertension and cardiovascular research and comes with prize money of € 5,000. The three researchers are being recognized for discovering novel mechanisms by which isoprostanes, free radical-catalysed prostaglandin-like products of unsaturated fatty acids that are increasingly formed in cardiovascular high-risk patients, disturb angiogenesis and endothelial homeostasis. This scientific work was supervised by Dr. Benndorf, Head of the Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacotherapy.
